 I went to CHIIKAWA PARK!!

Chiikawa is short for “nanka chiisakute kawaii yatu,”which means sometihing small and cawaii in English.
It’s a famous character created by the illustrator Nagano, who started posting on social madia.

My favorite character is Hachiware, one of Chiikawa’s friends.
I went to Chiikawa park in Ikebukuro,Tokyo with my coworkers.

How to Enter / Make a Reservation

As of November 2025, you need to book your ticket in advance on Asoview.
Just pick your preferred date and time, and pay the ¥3,000 admission fee online.
Once your reservation is complete, you’ll get a QR code — just show it at the entrance on the day of your visit!

On the Day

From Ikebukuro Station, walk through Sunshine Street and go down the escalator in the building where Nitori is located.
After walking a little further on the moving walkway, you’ll see the entrance to Chiikawa Park just before the Sunshine City entrance.
I arrived a bit early, so I lined up and waited for my entry time.

At the Entrance

When I entered, the staff asked me to take a small sip from my bottled drink for safety reasons.
They also told me to connect to the free Wi-Fi, since the park is underground and you’ll need to show your QR code a few times during your visit.
It seems they recommend using Wi-Fi to make the check-in process smoother.

Then we received a paper wristband and a sticker as an entrance gift, and finally went inside. After entering, there was a short wait, but I spent the time looking at the cute manga illustrations on the walls.

The space isn’t very big, but it really feels like stepping into Chiikawa’s world.

First, we were guided to an area where you can buy cute headbands and hats.
Each person can only buy one item there, but if you want more, you can get them later at the gift shop.
Each area recreates a scene from the manga.

You can take photos with Shishō (the master), and if you’re lucky, you might run into Muchauman walking around — he’ll take pictures with you too!

Character Greeting

After the tour, you can head to the character greeting spot.
The character who appears is random, so if you see your favorite, make sure to wave and ask for a photo!
That day, Hachiware and Usagi were there.
Without hesitation, I went straight to Hachiware and took a picture together!

Games & Goods Shop

After the greeting, we were guided upstairs to the goods shop and game area.
First, I headed to the game area and chose between “Rolling Meatballs” or “Spider Net Catcher.”
At the moment, you can only pick one game per person.
I chose Spider Net Catcher, and it was pretty tricky!

Participation prizes are random keychains, and the winning prizes change every month.
That day, the prize was a Chiikawa cushion.

Summary & Impressions

I had been looking forward to going, and being able to step into the world of Chiikawa was absolutely amazing!
I was especially happy to meet Hachiware, since the character greeting was what I was most excited about.

The park doesn’t have rides, but there are lots of photo spots, and many families and couples were enjoying themselves.
Even if you visit alone, staff are everywhere, so you can easily ask them to take photos for you.

The park is entirely cashless, so make sure to bring a card or mobile payment.
Many shop items were already sold out when I visited — I went in September, a couple of months after the park opened in July — so some popular items might not be available depending on timing.
I’m hoping they’ll expand the lineup in the future!
